Welcome to the Peninsula Quilters Guild! We hope the information below will help to familiarize you with the activities of our group. Please feel free to contact a board member, committee chair or another PQ member for more information. For activity details click on a listed activity title highlighted in green text.

Volunteer at events iVolunteer
You receive an annual Roster in your membership packet. It includes Guild and member information, bylaws and rules, executive board and committee chairs, etc. Keep it handy!
Each monthly general meeting has a featured Guest Speaker or a special event. A special activity, event or a charitable sew day may following a morning General Meeting.
Presented by speakers take place on Thursdays following a meeting; there are approximately four workshops per year.
The PQ Gazette is published monthly and contains a wealth of information. It's our primary means of communications, along with announcements at meetings. The Gazette can be viewed and downloaded from our website https://www.peninsulaquilters.org.
The Guild secure website Peninsula Quilters Guild social media links for Facebook and Instagram that are resources for members and the community. It includes descriptions of upcoming meetings, activities, photo gallery and other important information.
Bees are smaller groups that usually meet monthly.
Board Meetings
All members are welcome to attend any board meeting. The board meets monthly virtually on the first Wednesday of the month. The September board meeting is held on the forth Wednesday of the month.
The New Members Tea is held annually to welcome new members and all members are invited. The New Member Tea is a great opportunity to get to know other quilters and to learn about your guild in a smaller setting.
Donation Quilts - Members make and donate finished twin size quilts to LifeMoves; small baby quilts to San Mateo Health Foundaton's Bundle of Joyprogram and Loved Twice, a non-profit charity for the greater Bay Area; and small fidget quilts to Sutter Health Hospice of San Mateo for occupational therapy. These are collected at the "Charity Table" at our monthly meetings.
A PQ outreach/educational and fund-raising activity, each year members create a special quilt that is displayed at various venues to promote our purpose, then raffled off in June.
San Mateo County Fair
Members participate in the fair by showing their quilts, interacting with attendees, showing and selling raffle tickets to the annual Opportunity Quilt made by PQG members.
Retreats
Twice a year we hold a weekend long "no frills" quilting retreat, with open sewing, food and fun. We may also have a more structured retreat.
Quilt Show
Our members display their quilts, sharing their very best with other members and the community. Typically, the Quilt Show takes place every other year.
Members purchase a kit (usually $5) and create a project from specified fabrics. Finished quilts are displayed at the April and September meetings. Participation proceeds are used to award prizes for the best submissions.
Raffle Baskets
Look for opportunities to obtain more wonderful books, patterns and fabric at our meetings. Periodically we have auctions and sales that are announced in advance.
Bring Sunshine
Knowing that someone cares can really make a person's day brighter.
