Donations Quilts - Members make and donate quilt tops to be finished with backing, batting and machine quilted on their home machines.
Donation Quilts - Members make and donate finished twin size quilts to LifeMoves and small baby quilts to San Mateo Health Foundaton's Bundle of Joy program and Loved Twice, a non-profit charity for the greater Bay Area. These are collected at the "Charity Table" at our monthly meetings.
The PQ Gazette is published monthly and contains a wealth of information. It's our primary means of communications, along with announcements at meetings. The Gazette can be viewed and downloaded from our website https://www.peninsulaquilters.org.
The New Members Tea is held annually to welcome new members and all members are invited. The New Member Tea is a great opportunity to get to know other quilters and to learn about your guild in a smaller setting.
The Guild website (www.peninsulaquilters.org) and social media (https://www.facebook.com/peninsulaquiltersguild/) is a resource for members and the community. It includes descriptions of upcoming meetings, activities, photo gallery and other important information.
Members participate in the fair by showing their quilts, interacting with attendee's, showing and selling raffle tickets to the annual Opportunity Quilt made by PQG members.
Bees are smaller groups that usually meet monthly. You may contact our "Queen Bee" (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are interested in joining a bee.
Twice a year we hold a weekend long "bare bones" quilting retreat, with open sewing, food and fun. We may also have a more structured retreat.
Members purchase a kit (usually $5) and create a project from specified fabrics. Finished quilts are displayed at the April meeting. Participation proceeds are used to award prizes for the best submissions.
Look for opportunities to obtain more wonderful books, patterns and fabric at our meetings. Periodically we have auctions and sales that are announced in advance
Alice Love Day free to PQG members with the donation of annual donation quilts, requirements vary each year (see webpage for specifics)
Our members display their quilts, sharing their very best with other members and the community. Typically, the PQG Quilt Shows takes place every other year.
All members are welcome to attend any board meeting. The board meets formally six (6) times per year (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov), immediately following morning meetings at the Garden Centers, except Sep board meeting is held at the Redwood Shores Library.
